Vertical board & batten siding gives a home tall, clean lines that work on modern, farmhouse, and lake homes alike. Here's how one of our recent jobs came together, from a fully wrapped house to finished dark siding.

Stage 1: Weather barrier and flashing
Before any siding goes up, the walls are wrapped in housewrap and every window and door is flashed. This is the layer that actually keeps water out of the wall, so it gets checked carefully — especially on a tall wall like this one.
Stage 2: Layout
Vertical siding shows every mistake. The boards have to be plumb and the spacing has to line up around windows, corners, and from one wall to the next. Layout is planned before the first board goes on.

Stage 3: Siding, trim, and details
With the layout set, the boards and battens go up, followed by trim at windows, corners, and roof lines. The dark color on this home makes the shadow lines between boards stand out.
